GREENWICH COMMUNITY BUILDING
In accordance to the Baha'i Writings, "All human beings have been created to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization." The creation of a peaceful global society that fosters both individual and collective wellbeing is at the heart of the Baha'i vision of the future. Within the framework of a growing community concerned with moral and spiritual transformation, social and economic development is one expression of the Bahá'í commitment to realising this vision.
Progress will come as we develop a new understanding of human nature as spiritual and unifying, not material and divisive. We all need to learn ways of relating to each other that are supportive and encouraging, which do not create divisions or rely on conflict. In short, we need to identify a shared purpose – something we each feel individually responsible for, and which is common to our communities. This shared purpose will enable everyone – young, old, women, men, poor as well as rich – to flourish in this new civilisation.
Consequently, Baha'i efforts generally take the form of grassroots community building initiatives carried out by small groups of individuals in the areas in which they reside, implemented through a universally agreed framework that equips them with the concepts needed to succeed in constructing a flourishing neighborhood through collective endeavor.

"Do not think the peace of the world an ideal impossible to attain...If you desire with all your heart friendship with every race on earth, your thought, spiritual and positive will spread; it will become the desire of others, growing stronger until it reaches the minds of all men."
